Solid shutters are perfect for a traditional French feel. They are either completely solid and need to be folded back or come as a combination of a solid lower panel and a slatted upper panel. The latter option means you can keep them shut and still let in some light.

The Full Solid Panel shutters means that all the panels are solid without any louvres whatsoever. This style will achieve you a near blackout light condition.
Bare in mind that there might still be a slight degree of light coming through between the panels and the shutter frames as there will always be a contingency allowance for the panels to be properly opened.

Half Solid Half Louvered Plantation shutters
This particular option is fairly rare from a demand point of view. It consists of having full height panels however split into 2 sections, from which the top section of the panel is louvered and the bottom section of the panel is solid.
It cannot be manufactured the other way around, solid on the top section and lovered on the bottom section.
